The Traffic Light Hack

The UI

The user interface for controlling the light. The lights can be controlled manually, can be controlled to do different patterns based on a timer, or can download information (in this case the barometric pressure for my town) and display it. I also used the same code so that people can control the lights over IRC and AIM.

Bucky,

Nicely done. I collect traffic lights (don't laugh, there are a lot of us) and have been thinking about controlling them somehow via the computer, but I lack the skillz necessary.

Ideally I was hoping to have an IP-addressable controller that would work with a wireless network. That way you could just plug the individual lights into the controller, plug the controller into a cheap 802.11b device and position it anywhere.

Anyway, thanks for posting the details of your project. Would you be willing to share the application and/or source for the UI?

Thanks,
Ed T.

if your willing to share the source i will host everything for you

oh yeah you can contact me at zero@directad.org

I would argue that Exit Traffic is actually one of the best forms of traffic generation. I am going to book mark this blog, nice topics discussed

By the way... I have a traffic information site. It pretty much covers Traffic related stuff.

Come and check it out if you get time :-)

Weird. I always thought the Rettop Method was the best for generating traffic. I am going to book mark this blog, nice topics discussed
